World History Poetry

I must define this face
this race, the naive momentum
my thoughts the piano’s encroachment
the solitaire’s monastery is my wheel
a soft raised convicting finger my stubborn engine
the long march into centuries and legends
a lost Carolingian desperation;
the Great You that almost Latinized me
in my march, my boundary
I travel with leather and spices
and the abridged and insufficient scrolls
that keep names and wars as causes
this drag of history
a story of everything for no one in particular
lines that remember sleepy pope eyes
puddles of blood and new routes to fame;
I must define this outcome
declare it a migrating art
a necessary war
an early appearance or a rapid descent
the ambiguous year of transformations
a division in which hands fall
deep to the middle of the earth
at the center of time
an indiscriminate movement
in nobody’s control.

El detrás

Detras de los eventos

Detrás
como guión
a lo improvisado
existe
un paulatino roce
que estimula los
eventos

te vuelvo a mirar
veo lo humano
como vidrio
translúcido
cubriendo
plena manifestación

el mismo relato
de esta experiencia
aparece frente a mí
como emanación
involuntaria

lejos
como una caída
desde lo insólito
aparece el momento
la carne
y el pensamiento
apenas al borde
de lo real.

ex nihilo

Ex Nihilo Poetry
I’ve come close
to developing incurable nausea
biting the world so often
it’s starting to swarm like primordial chaos’s pulp
lingering in my mouth
it proliferates in my stomach
constant genesis out my ass
yet
the feeling is still there
I’ve had too much of it
I need a new distraction
perhaps
ex nihilo
I can invent a death
  so pristine
it returns to life
    its facet of dream.

la importancia del conocimiento

Poetry and Knowledge

Me propongo anticipar un costado del futuro
reunir la abultada masa del saber
contraponer la dicha enciclopédica contra
                la dolorosa muerte;
al pasar la mano por mi cabello
se mueve una tribu hambrienta
un impulso nómada que toca proceso,
me he de mover con tautológica imprecisión
impulsar embarcaciones al desconsuelo del deseo
movilizar algunas ideas a alabar su peso;
son todas cosas de espera y recuerdo
al fin la mente que estudia su misterio
regresa sin respuesta al misterio que la produjo;
el evento es un nunca, un tu y yo, un pasado ya –
sentir nos llega como una observación ajena.

Lo irónico es que la existencia no se ríe,
      solo muestra su mandíbula
como depredador que devora almas.

Poesía contemporánea

aduren lineage

I touch the moment by its hectic word,
without imitation, from bursts and bursts
I come in unintentionally.

By name, by function by friendship
I invent this place;
I don’t have gifts of sky or lantern,
I don’t fathom an exit.

Entities and noise musically erase my eyes,
a cold sheet of water, no more days
possessions by an instant.

I intend to own an ocean
wet by the iron that hurts
a depth of gunfire.

I live by tendencies, the tender spots
placing what’s left of me on this bench
I sit: time begins

Why assert when doubt freely listens in
don’t ask why I fell into this stateless love
imagine that I have just begun.

arte débil

Newspaper poetry

estas palabras pobres se desboronan

como tierra inconsistente

en papeles enrollados que encuentro

por el camino de mi desventurada fortuna,

en las esquinas… sentado, albergado, evitando

un viento frío que es mucho más puro que todo lo que podré escribir;

tinta sucia e invendible

something of night

Posted in contemporary poetry with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 19, 2010 by Pablo Saborio

Stepping-stones on an open fall
my limbs remind me of crying cataracts
the fall is unique
relative to some approaching infinity
all my thoughts are grounded solely on the black stream
an overarching view of decay
some inexplicable love wraps the beauty of my despair
trust? there is an absolute leap of faith
relying less on the Goodness of this destruction
more on the emptiness of my command
whatever remains. An option to abort
a compulsory surrender
that carries this night
as a flavor to life.

Modern Poetry

This site is dedicated to my poetry, my art, my despair. Browse below to read my latest poetry both in English and Spanish. Nearly all the photography in this blog belongs to me. Every post has a photograph so, in a sense, this is a gallery too. To the right you can read existential and nihilistic quotes that have inspired me. There, too, you can access additional photographs as well as my modern art paintings.
